On May 12, 2012 do something awesome. Tell the people that you love that you love them so much, and tell the people in your life that are important and mean a lot to you exactly how you feel. Do something random and kind for a stranger or somebody you know who could really use something to brighten their day. Wear something purple for Ronan, or wear an outfit that makes you feel good, an outfit you love to rock. Be spontaneous. Do something silly. Laugh with your friends. Love deeply. Hold those dear to you extra tight. Dance and sing. Send somebody a text telling them how important they are to you. Make somebody’s day, all while honoring the life of a little boy who lived with so much passion, love, spice, and joy. Spread the word about Rockstar Ronan, and help us find a cure to childhood cancer… because we aren’t giving up and we won’t back down. F U Cancer!

This little boy’s name was Ronan.
Call me bias, but I think he was the most beautiful boy to ever live. His eyes glowed and shined from the moment he was born. He was an old soul, he was nothing short of incredible.
He was also born into an amazing family. A wonderful dad, beautiful mom, and two loving twin brothers. Something had always been missing until Ronan came along. He pulled everything together.
On August 12th, 2010, their entire world came crashing down.
The little boy everyone loved and adored was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma, a form of childhood cancer.
Ronan’s family was never one to take things for granted. Even before Ronan was diagnosed, they knew how lucky they were. They appreciated everything they had, they loved their kids more than anything. They did nothing to deserve this.
Shortly after Ronan’s diagnosis his fight began. He started chemo-therapy and radiation. His gorgeous hair began to fall out, which made his eyes shine even more.
Ronan was following down the typical treatment plan for advanced Neuroblastoma until April of 2011, where scans revealed the chemo had stopped working. Ronan’s body just stopped responding. There was nothing they could do. Ronan would die.
The most beautiful boy to ever live left this world in the early morning hours of May 9th, 2011, in his mother’s arms.
Ronan’s death was preventable.
You see, childhood cancer receives less than 3% of all government funding. Yet, cancer is the number one cause of death by disease in children. Every 36 minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer in the US. Every 4 hours, a child with cancer dies.
Had childhood cancer received the funding and awareness it deserves, Ronan would still be here.
But Ronan’s not here. And neither are the thousands of other children that have died of childhood cancer. They may not be here, but we are. And we can change the future for all the other kid’s that will be diagnosed. We can change it so that they won’t suffer and die the way Ronan did.
Ronan’s family has been torn to pieces. Imagine losing the best thing that had ever happened to you. Imagine your worst nightmare, coming true. I have never seen someone in as much pain as Ronan’s mom is right now.
